Related Concepts

The following may relate to the above concept.

  1. Benefit; that means, service to others.

Interaction; that means, action between. Interaction involves two entities, say, A and B. One must act upon the other but reciprocation is not required. Without reciprocation, the interaction is considered as a Reaction. When reciprocation is involved, the interaction is considered as a Service. In this case, A sends B a fulfillment request based on what A needs. As requested, B satisfies the need as expressed by A. When the service is mutual and both entities share the same purpose, the service is considered as a Relation. When both entities in the same interaction share two or more relations, they are considered as a Relationship. In social life, there are four different types of interaction: reaction, service, relation, and relationship. Needless to say, the length of an interaction may be less than a second or longer than a century.

Check out the following exchange.

“Are you in an educational system in which high school students are expected to understand or know the definition of what a relationship is?” Nick restates the question.

“I think so,” says Armando.

“Therefore, is it fair for me to ask you the question,” asks Nick, “what the heck is relationship?”

Armando smiles as he thinks out loud.

“Relationship is you interacting with a human being,” struggles Armando, “or another entity, for some type of benefit or product.”

“That’s an interaction,” says Elias, “not a relationship.”

“OK,” agrees Armando, “you’re right.”
