Validity cannot be applied to a thumbnail definition that did not pass through the test of time. In order to pass through the test of time, the thumbnail must be objectively useful to several people in various contextual situations. A thumbnail cannot be created by a single person without being challenged by others. In other words, getting only one person to agree with your proposed thumbnail is closer to the beginning than the end of its development.
