#PVDPhilosophy is a new approach to life. Its nomenclature is called Thumos Language, which is used to teach its first lesson. If you would like to help review the philosophy, its nomenclature, and its first lesson, please let Nick know.  Here is the first lesson in PVD Philosophy. “When you look into a mirror, you should see yourself as a complex business of the self whose mission is to create and develop further your ideal self, what you truly want to become. More importantly, if you want run your business of the self professionally and thus successfully, you must avoid doing it alone, by yourself. Professionalism for a complex business requires at least two different minds capable of joint intellectual effort, in this case, necessary for success in the making of your ideal self.”

Topic 1 PVD Philosophy

  1. Philosophy; that means, accepted wisdom.
  2. PVD; that means, Providence, Rhode Island.
  3. Using these two thumbnail definitions, we can say the following.
  4. PVD Philosophy is an approach to life that was first accepted as wisdom by several people in Providence.
  5. They include several college students, several professionals, and a visiting professor at Brown University.
  6. Every version of PVD Philosophy is falsifiable and probably will be replaced in the future.
  7. Front and center of this philosophy is its nomenclature, called the Thumos Language.

Topic 2 Thumos Language

  1. Language; that means, structured words.
  2. Thumos; that means, master of relationships.
  3. Using these two thumbnail definitions, we can say the following.
  4. Thumos language is a set of structured words, in form of thumbnail definitions, for use by those who want to become master of relationships.
  5. Each thumbnail definition in the Thumos language is falsifiable because it is not 100% correct but merely good enough for the time being and probably will be replaced in the future.
  6. To master your relationships, you need shared understanding of terms.
  7. To have, shared understanding of terms, but in a hurry, you need thumbnail definitions from Thumos language.

Topic 3 Version & Baseline

  1. Version; that means, a variant of the original.
  2. The original version of PVD Philosophy is spelled out by the 2017 book, “Thumos: Adulthood, Love & Collaboration”.
  3. In this book, you will find “Thumos1”, the original version of the Thumos language.
  4. Whenever we use the terms as defined by our thumbnail definitions, we experience the use of Thumos language.
  5. Baseline; that means, new-beginning version.
  6. The second version of Thumos philosophy is spelled out by Ri4CTV via the TV series, “PVD Philosophy”.
  7. In this TV series, you will find “Thumos2”, the second version of the Thumos language.
  8. When a term is defined in Thumos1, it is part of Thumos2.
  9. For example, the two terms, professionalism and success, are defined in Thumos1 and they are thus part of Thumos2.

Topic 4 Professionalism & Success

  1. Profession; that means, a skill-required job.
  2. Professional; that means, meeting profession-standards.
  3. Professionally; that means, as in a profession.
  4. To do something professionally, you do it as if it were part of a job that requires a lot of skills.
  5. Success; that means: peer recognition.
  6. To achieve peer recognition, you must go beyond what your peers can do.
  7. This is possible when you become more professional.
  8. This is possible when you work more professionally.
  9. Professionalism and success, these two concepts are often applied to business and technology.
  10. These two concepts can also be applied to your personal business of the self.

Topic 5 Business of the Self

  1. Business; that means, systematic selling.
  2. Your-ideal-self; that means, what you truly want to become.
  3. Business of the self is the systematic selling of what you truly want to become.
  4. When you do your business of the self, you shows others what you truly want to become.
  5. When you do your business of the self, you systematically sell your ideals.
  6. The fashion you wear, for example, does that automatically.

Topic 6 Discharge & Behavior

  1. Discharge; that means, proper performance.
  2. You discharge your physical power when you tackle another person.
  3. You discharge your skills when you properly carry out your duties at work.
  4. You can discharge static electricity by touching anything conductively grounded.
  5. Behavior, that means, social conduct.
  6. Whenever you discharge your behavior, you do your business of the self.
  7. When you want others to love you or buy your things, you do your business of the self.
  8. Your approach to life is the way you conduct your business of the self.

Topic 7 Lesson One

  1. Here is the first lesson in PVD Philosophy.

  1. Dictator; that means, control by force.
  2. By default, you’re the dictator in your business of the self.
  3. Management; that means, prevention of resource-waste.
  4. To manage your business of the self, you should prevent the waste of your time and other resources under your control.
  5. What you have today is the result of what you do in your business of the self.
  6. If you do not like what you have, change what you do.
  7. If you do not like what you have as the result of being a dictator in your business of the self, add professionalism and become a manager in your business of the self.

Topic 9 Adding Professionalism

  1. When you think of your business of the self as an airplane, you are the pilot.
  2. To add professionalism to your business of the self, you need to have a copilot.
  3. If your copilot is a person, you and that person must have, shared understanding of terms, as the two run the same business of the self for your life.
  4. The relationship with your copilot in your business of the self must begin with shared understanding of terms.
  5. Thumos language is an automatic approach to shared understanding of terms in every relationship.
  6. If you do not have anyone being a copilot for your business of the self, use PVD Philosophy.
  7. Being a copilot for your business of the self is the ultimate objective of PVD Philosophy.
